Zero Waste Day
Students and staff will take up the challenge of living a full day of their life without creating any waste that is disposed to a landfill or burned.
The aim is to help us understand how human lifestyle was adapted to consume resources unsustainably, but at the same time how easily we can re-adapt our lives, so we get more out of the resources we consume while preserving nature.
We will use these five Rs to help us out: Refuse what you don’t need such as plastics and ‘free stuff’

Partnership launch between Wa’hab and OLIO
To reduce food waste and connect communities together, we at Wa’hab have partnered with OLIO to bring the food sharing app to Qatar.
Recycle and Reduce food waste
As a part of Lulu's continuous improvement plan in furthering their goal towards sustainability and environmental protection Lulu Hypermarket in their bin Mahmoud store has invested and partnered with a service provider who offered an innovative food waste solution ORCA .
ORCA technology simply mimics a natural digestion process by creating a thermophilic environment for the microorganisms governed by ORCA and biochips to digest food waste into liquid which is filtered safely through a 0.5mm screen into the existing drainage system.
Qatar sustainability week awareness
Novo Nordisk employees in Qatar are actively participating by implementing the suggested actions by Qatar sustainability week:
1) Switch off unused lights and electronics
2) Set AC temperature to 22– 24 ◦c when needed
3) Reduce Food Waste /Save my leftovers for later / Store food properly
4) Think twice before I print
5) Take advantage of daylight /Connect to nature
6) Choose healthy food options
Each One Teach One
On the 11th of November at Doha English Speaking School we have the day Dedicated as Each One Teach One . The children are to share some amazing facts related to nature/ environment with their respective classes. .During the Qatar Sustainability Week October 23-30th October DESS is on mid term break . Hence, we will be celebrating Qatar Sustainability Week at DESS from 7th to 11th November.
Plastic Reduction Workshop for Merchandise and Gift Suppliers in Qatar
With just over one year to go until Qatar hosts the FIFA World Cup, environmental sustainability remains at the heart of tournament preparation, with the aim of leaving behind a green legacy as one of its key objectives. As part of the commitment, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) has recently partnered with Seven Clean Seas to launch One Tide to drive awareness about plastic waste in Qatar.

مسابقة ومجلة مواهب الاستدامة 2021، هي مسابقة وطنية على مستوى المدارس الشريكة لمنظمة علم لأجل قطر وتهدف الى إكتشاف وتنمية المواهب في مدارس دولة قطر، وإثراء الحياة التعليمية بمفاهيم وقيم الاستدامة المنبثقة من رؤية قطر 2030، كما تساهم في تعزيز التعاون والشراكة وتبادل الخبرات والمعرفة بين مدارس دولة قطر. سيشارك في المسابقة ما لا يقل عن 50 طالب وطالبة وسيتم إصدار مجلة مواهب الاستدامة إلكترونياً وتوزيع نسخة ورقية منها تحفظ في مكتبة المدارس المشاركة.

No more paper printing
We are a sports company in Doha. Recently, we completely digitalized our registration, brochures, invoicing and receipts, to reduce as much printing and paper waste. Customers will no longer get paper receipts or invoices, all will go by email. They will register on the website, without paperwork, and the leaflets with info will be sent digitally to minimize printing and paper waste.
