DESS Community Garden Opening

Formal opening of the DESS Community Garden – a garden which serves as an educational resource to the pupils of Doha English Speaking School (DESS) as well as the wider community of Qatar. The garden is made from 95% recycled materials, uses renewable sources of energy (solar and wind) to power features of the garden and captures data for environmental research for use by DESS pupils and the wider community in Qatar. This is a closed event and is by invitation only.

Innovation Summit

The team will meet together and coordinate the concept, design and implementation of the project. The innovation will cover car pooling on apps, understanding road traffic and recommending better solutions as part of the smart city.

KPMG in Qatar reduce reuse recycle initiative

At KPMG in Qatar, we have decided to launch a year-long programme to encourage better environmental practices across the firm. This will focus on the "reduce reuse recycle" messaging.

We would like to launch the programme to tie-in with QSW (with your permission). We are starting with an internal campaign focused on paper use on 28 October to raise awareness amongst staff and encourage behaviour change. We are also hoping to engage a recycling firm to help us manage our paper waste by this time.

Staff Cafeteria Laws

Throughout the course of the week we will be displaying notices in our staff cafeteria showcasing messages about minimizing food wastage and how they should only take so much food on their plate as they can eat.

We will also ban the use of disposable cups and crockery for the week in the premises so that we avoid wastage generation.

Switching It Off

As part of our participation in the Qatar Sustainability Week 2017, Frame Communications will be having a week without any lights on in the office. We would like to encourage others to do the same as part of our initiative to save energy. Energy is a scarce natural resource meaning that the resource is depleting. As a result, there would be a decline in future availability; we have just enough coal to meet 188 years ofglobal production. So, for this week we will be SWITCHING IT OFF!
