This initiative brings sustainability to life through interactive learning sessions led by a horticultural specialist, combining environmental education with creativity, teamwork, and practical experience. The program is designed to empower both staff and patients to understand, practice, and promote sustainable living through tangible, hands-on activities.

The workshops are divided into two main components:

1. Patient-Focused Green Activities
Patients will take part in two engaging sustainability exercises:

  • Hydroponic Planting: Participants will explore the principles of soil-free hydroponic cultivation, learning how plants can thrive using nutrient-rich water systems that conserve both space and resources. This activity demonstrates sustainable food production methods and highlights the importance of water efficiency and innovative growing techniques.
  • Creating Bottle Plants: In a parallel activity, patients will collect and repurpose used plastic water bottles to create decorative planters and fill them with life. Guided by the horticultural specialist, they will learn about recycling, plant care, and the environmental value of giving materials a second life. This exercise encourages creativity while reinforcing the concept of waste reduction through reuse.

2. Staff Composting Education and Practice
Staff members will participate in an educational session focused on composting — discovering how organic waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich soil that supports local greenery and reduces landfill contribution. The workshop will include live demonstrations and practical tips for applying composting techniques both at work and at home.

By combining environmental education with practical engagement, these workshops cultivate awareness, teamwork, and appreciation for sustainable living. Together, they reflect the core spirit of Sustainability Week — learning, growing, and taking action to nurture both people and the planet.
