Healthy Habits and Sustainable Living at Iqra Girls

Iqra English School for Girls will engage students from KG to Year 6 in practical activities promoting waste reduction, healthy lifestyles, recycling and sustainable living.

Our programme includes:

Waste Reduction: Encouraging reusable water bottles and lunchboxes, reducing paper consumption and minimising food waste.

Healthy Lifestyle: Handwashing Day activities, a Healthy Eating Campaign and nurse-led awareness sessions on hygiene, hydration and healthy daily habits.

THE LEGACY TREE: Growing a Culture of Sustainability

From November 1–5, 2026, join us in creating the Legacy Tree on a designated board.

Each leaf will represent a sustainable practice or commitment that we can adopt at work and in our daily lives. Share your ideas and help our tree grow with meaningful actions for the environment.

  • Materials: Hardboard, printed leave and glue guns will be distributed to all locations in advance

FROM BOTTLE CAPS TO BRAND PRIDE: Create the Nehmeh Logo

Contribute used plastic bottle caps for a collaborative project to create the Nehmeh logo.

  • Collection period: Immediately until November 4, 2026.
  • Logo assembly: November 5, 2026.
  • Materials: Hardboard and glue guns will be distributed to all locations in advance

Scavenger Hunt and Fitness Challenge

Co-hosted by the Chicken Legs Club during CMU-Q’s Qatar Sustainability Week, the Scavenger Hunt & Fitness Challenge brings together faculty, staff, and students for a high-energy campus race. Teams must solve sustainability-themed clues to uncover each secret checkpoint, where they must complete a physical activity before receiving their next clue to advance.

CLOTHING BANK

The Clothing Bank, hosted during CMU-Q’s Qatar Sustainability Week in collaboration with the CMU-Q Student Majles, invites community members to exchange gently used clothing for trade tickets, which can later be redeemed for new-to-them items. This activity symbolizes a conscious shift away from fast fashion toward a circular, community-driven economy. By encouraging the repurposing and recycling of pre-loved apparel, the drive directly reduces textile waste and promotes sustainable consumption habits.

Tree of Hope: Pledge for Sustainability

Tree of Hope: Pledge for Sustainability invites the Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar community—faculty, staff, and students—to take a collective stance for a greener future during Qatar Sustainability Week. Participants make a lasting commitment by leaving their green handprint on a canvas depicting a large tree trunk and branches. As each individual adds their mark, the bare branches transform into a vibrant canopy of green hands, serving as a powerful visual symbol of unity, shared responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
