Lulu Hypermarket Qatar and Seashore Recycling organized several events in various LuLu Stores across Qatar to mark the World Environment Day 2022. The aim was to raise awareness on protecting the environment, promoting sustainable practices, and cultivating the culture of recycling among the public.

The activities included a clean up at Sealine Beach, Mesaieed, collecting about 150kg of trash, out of which the recyclable material were processed by Seashore

Recycling and Sustainability.

Promoting the reduction in eating meat especially beef.

On Qatar Sustainability week 2022 and as a part of our commitment to achieve Zero Carbon by 2045 and as a participant in sustainable development, Engie Cofely Mannai decided to carry out activities and challenges and they are:

-Turning off lights for 1 hour/ day throughout the week.

-Cut out all Plastics in the office (Bottles, Lunch boxes, Etc.) by the staff and for guests throughout the week.

● Our entire PCI-DSS system is certified by Crossbow Labs for ensuring Cybersecurity.

● Our outlets are ISO 22000: 2018 certified

● Lulu Hypermarket is the recipient of “Sustainability Award 2019” in the Qatar Sustainability Summit held in the year 2019.

● Most of our hypermarket stores are GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System) certified for the facility operations.

● Our company is Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) certified from Crossbow Labs for Cyber Security.

● Food waste digesters are being used to divert food waste from landfill.  

● We have introduced Three chamber bins for the better waste segregation.

● We have partnered with Green Brokerage Firm for recycling used oil, which they convert into bio-diesel.

● We have partnered with a local recycling firm for recycling of cartons and used papers.

● All inhouse tissue papers used are FSC certified.

● Most of our hypermarket stores are GSAS (Global Sustainability 

● All our shopping bags are 100% biodegradable

As part of Mowasalat (Karwa)'s sustainability initiatives to recycle industrial waste we recycle all our vehicle's engine oil. For used oil, our contracted licensed recycling company collects the used oil from Mowasalat site and this is safely processed at the contractor's waste treatment plant which is in full compliance with the State of Qatar's legal requirements. The used oil is then recycled into 'base oil' products. This base oil is then sold to processing industries in Qatar and even abroad to produce useful healthcare products.

● We have implemented 100% LED Lightings in all our outlets.

● We are using less emission and temperature controlled water-proofing system on roof-tops. 

● The external walls of most of our projects are highly thermal-insulated with AAC Panels.

● We are using VSD Chillers to reduce the energy consumption. We are also using VSD Pumps and energy efficient motors for our operations.

● We have implemented energy optimization system (Honeywell Forge) to reduce energy consumption.
