Our team kicked off several initiatives that we believe will play a huge role in the conservation of energy and water, including the implementation of:
o Motion sensor lighting systems and water taps in offices and accommodation buildings
o Energy efficient LED lights in all company facilities, and driver accommodation buildings
o Lighting and HVAC optimization (including identifying opportunities to invest in renewable technical solutions).
Sustainability starts small! We recently launched a Food Waste Solutions project by installing a BiobiN composter in our Karwa City Accommodation to handle and manage food waste generated from the canteen to convert it into useful compost and fertilizer. More BiobiNs will be installed throughout Karwa City as well as the Mowasalat (Karwa) Headquarters soon.
We have launched a Community Garden initiative in our Karwa City Accommodation to motivate our drivers to improve and expand their skills! During their free time, interested employees can participate in planting and gardening a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs! This initiative promotes a greener lifestyle within the company and encourages Mowasalat (Karwa) drivers to use their free time caring for and connecting with the environment.
We recently inaugurated the pilot operation of our electric bus charging stations, which comes with the arrival of the first batch of eco-friendly electric buses to Qatar! These buses will be used within our transport system. This complements the electric vehicles strategy initiated by the MoTC and concerned authorities, which aims to support the State's progress towards a green future.

Plastic bottle caps are being collected by students and teachers in our school and rather than being put in recycling bins they will be converted into usable sustainable products - plastic bowls, permanent art work, planters etc. Awareness is spread in the school to:
One contributing factor in waste nowadays is the plastic bottle, each day people throw plastic water bottles, which end up in landfills or as a litter in side streets, recreational grounds and streams. Plastic water bottle do not biodegrade, but rather photo degrade. Which means it will take a lot of years before every single bottle to decompose.
In our little ways, the Gheras International School Eco Green Council is conducting a recycling activity by reusing waste plastic bottles as an alternative trash bin.
