Water conservation/climate management: Experience in the field of agrotextiles and agrofilms for innovative agriculture

The agricultural sector that, from now until 2050, will be facing complex global challenges in order to feed an estimated population of nine billion people. We have no doubt water will be needed to produce the necessary 60 % extra food, and it is likely climate change will cause more frequent and intense weather events, such as droughts and floods, with a devastating impact on the food production system.

PUBLIC SEMINAR - Cultivating Resilience in Arid Regions: Integrating Ancestral and Current Practices in Water Management

Amid worsening localized water scarcity, the potential to recover water from air and its capture on the ground is by far the most under-explored. Under pertinent conditions, cloud seeding could be used to enhance rainfall by dispersing substances into the air for cloud condensation, resulting in an increase in rainfall in the target area.

WORKSHOP - Sustainable Water Management for Water Security in Qatar

Qatar is one of the most water stressed countries in the world due to their arid climate and limited amount of resource water. The only source of freshwater in Qatar is groundwater which is currently being depleted due to over extraction. The stress levels on water are expected to increase in the future due to population increase, climate change, industrial operations, and agricultural sector growth. Qatar’s population is increasing, reaching nearly 3.0 million in 2023, a significant rise from nearly 2.0 million in 2012.

WORKSHOP - Sustainable Transport Futures: Pathways to EV and Beyond

Earthna and QEERI are hosting a workshop on sustainable road passenger transport pathways in Qatar, focusing on EVs. The workshop will gather stakeholders from Qatar's road passenger transport ecosystem, including government, industry, and academia. The workshop will foster discussion of policy drivers and barriers to the penetration of EVs in road passenger transport in Qatar, identify policy development needs and major gaps in the evidence necessary to support it. Discussion will include the economic, environmental, and behavioral dimensions of the policy problem.
