Education City - Landscape Initiatives

  • Upgraded and improved the landscape from the tram station to the mosque, enhancing the outdoor environment and promoting visual comfort for pedestrians.
  • Introduced topiary features at the roundabout near QF Al Mujadilah, significantly improving site aesthetics and reinforcing the location’s visual identity.
  • Provided resources and guidance to promote agricultural education and sustainability practices among students at the QA Musheireb Greenhouse.

Walkway Beautification & Greening Projects

Creating a landscaped pedestrian walkway from Oxygen Park Station to Education City Mosque to encourage walking, reduce car use, and promote healthier lifestyles.
 

During the last 10 days of Ramadan, over 18,000 worshippers attended daily prayers—many arriving by Tram and walking. The positive feedback highlights the value of accessible routes that support both community movement and spiritual gatherings.

 

QKONS Smart Operations Support

Qatar Foundation's City operations are utilizing the QKONS platform for in smart city operations, providing technical expertise and support across various initiatives. The platform includes integrating innovative technologies, optimizing operational workflows, and ensuring alignment with sustainability goals. By integrating user-friendly features with motivational incentives, QKONS simplifies sustainable living, making it accessible and rewarding for everyone.

 تأتي مشاركه بلدية الوكرة ممثلة في وحدة مشاريع الاستدامة في أسبوع الاستدامة الذي يقام خلال الفترة من 1 إلى 8 نوفمبر المقبل دعماً لأهداف التنمية المستدامة وتعزيزاً للشراكة المجتمعية بين القطاعات الحكومية والتعليمية والقطاع الخاص وتعزيزاً لدور البلدية كعضو في شبكة مدن التعلم التابعة لليونسكو . 

Responsible Recycling

  1. The QFCRA regularly recycles paper waste and yearly asks employees to donate old batteries for recycling.
  2. We ensure responsible disposal of electronic waste by selecting vendors that effectively repurpose or recycle obsolete IT materials.

New Office, New Initiatives

  1. Provided all employees personalised reusable water bottles and set up refilling stations to reduce usage of plastic water bottles.
  2. Provided reusable tableware in the pantries for employees to use instead of disposables.
  3. Encouraged employees to use the metro for their commute to work, and to carpool for external events.
  4. Donated cubicles, office furniture, and IT equipment from the old building to Qatar Charity’s Tayf programme.
