Planting of 100 trees in Qatar at Heenat Salma farm to further the ESG agenda and bring awareness to the values of sustainability

Stop all kinds of plastic use, including cups, strew, take away bags, ...etc, plus collect all used plastic bottles and dispose of it in one of the recycled plastic bottle machines.

· Use water-efficient fixtures. Add faucet aerators. Use timed and censored fixtures. Use eco-labeled appliances.

· Track and monitor consumption/Switch off unused lights and electronics/Use eco-labeled fixtures and appliances/Eliminate phantom energy.

· Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Paper, Plastic, Metal, Food, Donate).

· Use of eco-friendly products.

· Support local products and materials.

. Dedicated cash counters for eco-friendly bags.

. Promoting of eco-friendly bags and applying no plastic day campaigns

. Collaboration with Al Rayyan Municipality and a recycling company to organise an awareness event at one of Al Rayyan public parks.

. Collaboration with recycling companies to reach and sign agreements for waste collection. 

. Carrefour Qatar has begun installation of recycling bins across all its stores. 

. Collaboration with compost companies to convert food waste into organic compost, and to convert it to energy. 

Collaboration with private sectors to promote health & wellness activations across our stores, to support and improve the health and wellness of the community  and employees. Wellness program ideas include physical health initiatives to mental health support and healthy lifestyle initiatives.

Carrefour has had saving amounting to 9,300 tons of CO2 emission by usage of LED lighting in all stores and accommodation, applying the double glazing door insulation for refrigeration cabinets, VFD Variable frequency dryer for Refrigeration racks, UPS and chillers, Replacing CC chillers with latest technology system for energy saving, apply a monitoring system in all stores to have a daily power consumption control.

Launching our first Carrefour Aquaponics Farm in Qatar in cooperation with Agrico.The all-new initiative highlights the importance of sustainable solutions in the  fresh food industry by providing alternatives to conventional farming.

To raise awareness and promote sustainability, our young learners will participate in a whole week of learning activities.

Reduction of Paper Wastage and Reusing the Junk

We will talk about the reduction of paper usage and students from all classes will use their creativity to prepare the craft by reusing Junk paper.
