Trash 2 Treasure – Junior Eco Ambassadors Workshop (Ages 6–12)

• Encourage families to bring clean recyclables daily.
• Integrate sorting as a daily practical life activity for children (Montessori link).
• Display children’s recycled crafts, parent-child collaborative projects, and staff eco-challenges.
• Invite parents and community members to view the exhibition on Nov 10th as part of OPEN DAY event. 

كجزء من أسبوع الاستدامة في قطر، نعمل على إشراك الأطفال في دورة الزراعة وأهمية الاهتمام ببيئتنا. من خلال التجارب العملية مثل زرع البذور، استكشاف التربة، المشاركة في الخبرات الحسية، ومراقبة النباتات الصغيرة، سيطوّر الأطفال تقديرًا عميقًا للطبيعة. تعمل هذه الخبرات على غرس قيم الرعاية والمسؤولية وتعاليم الإسلام حول الوعي البيئي.

At the German International School Doha, our kindergarten children and School Garden Club come together to grow more than just plants – they grow curiosity, care, and a love for nature. The children plant seeds and water their vegetable beds every day while observing how their food grows naturally. Through this hands-on experience, they learn about the cycles of nature, take responsibility for the environment, and discover the joy of sustainable living.

Description / Summary:

Join us at EcoToy Lab, a fun, hands-on workshop where children will design and create their very own eco-friendly toys. This initiative encourages creativity, sustainability and awareness in young minds, all within a playful and empowering environment.

Children aged 5 years and older

Format & Venue:

Community Time Learning – All students will explore practical strategies to reduce waste and personal carbon footprints through interactive lessons and discussions. 

By blending curriculum innovation, creative engagement, and student leadership, ISL Qatar aims to empower teachers, learners and families to take meaningful action on sustainability and support Qatar’s national vision for environmental stewardship. 

As part of our contribution to Qatar Sustainability Week 2025, our school community will focus on two student-led actions that give students an active role in protecting the planet:

Stay Digital – Both students and colleagues will be encouraged to use digital platforms for learning and communication instead of relying on printed paper. By doing so, they will see how everyday choices, like reading online or sharing work digitally, could help reduce waste and save valuable resources.

Logo Design Challenge
A creative competition inviting participants to design a logo that represents sustainability or the event theme. It fosters artistic expression and helps visualize what a sustainable future looks like.

 

• Parents and students will be taught Sustainability Awareness by reducing use of plastic ware.
• Students will be taught how to sort trash (plastic, paper, food waste).
• They will also be taught what materials can be recycled and ways to recycle it.
• Teachers will teach students how to plant in the school garden and teach ways to take care of plants.
