During this academic year, we will continue to expand recycling, monitor waste reduction, develop biodiversity projects and integrate sustainability more consistently across the curriculum.
Our Eco-Councils will remain central to identifying priorities, implementing action plans and evaluating progress. We will also continue to develop opportunities for pupils to apply their learning through practical projects and community activities.
Project Earthlings is an international conservation education programme that encourages pupils to investigate environmental issues, develop research skills and understand global conservation challenges.
Earthling Conservation Congress / Model IUCN
The Earthling Conservation Congress brings together pupils from schools across the GCC to discuss conservation issues through debates, simulations and workshops with conservation specialists. Pupils explore different perspectives, develop arguments and consider how environmental decisions are made.
We are developing a Sustainability Curriculum Map to identify existing environmental learning across year groups and subjects and highlight opportunities for further integration.

Waste reduction and recycling are key priorities within our Eco-Schools programme.
We have recently introduced plastic recycling alongside our expanding paper and cardboard recycling initiative. Collection boxes are being provided in all classrooms and shared areas, with Eco-Council members helping to promote correct use and increase participation.
Our biodiversity projects aim to improve the school environment and help pupils understand Qatar's natural habitats and wildlife.
School gardens are being developed to include vegetables, herbs, pollinator-friendly plants, native and arid-adapted species, and outdoor learning areas. Pupils are already involved in activities such as growing microgreens, making planters from recycled water bottles and learning about sustainable gardening.
Our first action project focuses on reducing litter and improving waste disposal around the school. Pupils have completed surveys, designed posters, explored the effects of litter through Character Development lessons and written an original environmental awareness song.
Daily lunchtime reminders, supported by the ’Mission Impossible’ theme tune, encouraged pupils to dispose of their waste responsibly. Waste was weighed after lunch to monitor progress.
Our two weekly Eco-Councils give Lower School and Middle & Senior School pupils opportunities to contribute ideas, develop action plans and lead environmental projects.
Following environmental reviews and questionnaires with pupils and staff, four priority themes were identified:

ترشيد الطاقة والمياه يعني الاستخدام الأمثل لهذين الموردين الحيويين بطريقة تحقق الاستفادة القصوى مع تقليل الهدر، وهو جزء أساسي من الاستدامة وحماية البيئة. الفكرة تقوم على تغيير السلوكيات اليومية واعتماد تقنيات حديثة تساعد في تقليل الاستهلاك.
ترشيد الطاقة
• استخدام الأجهزة الكهربائية الموفرة للطاقة (مثل المصابيح LED).
• إطفاء الأنوار والأجهزة عند عدم الحاجة.
• الاعتماد على العزل الحراري في المباني لتقليل استهلاك التكييف والتدفئة.
• الاستفادة من الطاقة المتجددة مثل الطاقة الشمسية.
يأتي معسكر «شباب لدعم» السنوي في إطار المساهمة في تحقيق ركيزة التنمية البيئية ضمن رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، من خلال تعزيز الوعي البيئي لدى الشباب وتشجيعهم على المشاركة في حماية البيئة والمحافظة على مواردها. ويسلط المعسكر في كل نسخة الضوء على أحد الموضوعات المرتبطة بالبيئة والاستدامة، حيث تركز نسخة هذا العام على البيئة البرية في دولة قطر، بما تزخر به من تنوع بيئي ومقومات تراثية، بهدف تعزيز ارتباط الشباب ببيئتهم الوطنية وترسيخ ثقافة الاستدامة والمسؤولية البيئية لديهم.
