Qur'anic Botanic Garden
Eng. Mohamed M. Hassona

Horticulturist of the Qur'anic Botanic Garden since 2010 in Qatar Foundation, Hassona manages the horticultural operations, including all living collections of plants mentioned in the Holy Qur'an and hadiths, and the flora of Qatar. Hassona graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Education at Benha University. Additionally, he trained on the genetic diversity of plant resources and their intellectual property rights, and plant breeding and seed production at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala.

Hassona has been working closely and passionately in conserving genetic resources since his graduation through various scientific partnerships, regionally and globally, through constant communication with other botanical gardens and relevant stakeholders. However, he authored many materials and co-edited the Second International Garden Forum proceedings book, Islamic Perspectives in Ecosystem Management, in 2014, in cooperation with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
