Crowne Plaza Doha and Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park will wrap up its Qatar Sustainability Week participation by hosting friendly sports match among its staff. Sports played will be badminton, volleyball and basketball.

For one hour starting at 3:00 pm, lights and energy will be switched off at Crowne Plaza Doha and Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park. This exercise will also be done in the hotels’ staff accommodation, Crowne Village, during the night.

Friday 23rd October 2020: non-assisted (no wet suit, no buoyancy device) swim from Viva Bahriya beach in Pearl to Safliya Island and back.

Hello everyone. As part of our sustainability week activities, we are doing a cleanup on the BEAUTIFUL singing Sand Dunes of Qatar.

This event is not open to the public, as we are already have enough volunteers for the day.

In support of Qatar Sustainability Week, hotel staff at Crowne Plaza Doha and Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park are encouraged to bring their own tumbler at work. Qatar has one of the highest per capita waste generation rates worldwide of 1.8 kg per day, 40% of which are recyclable materials such as metal, glass, paper and plastic. The objective of this exercise is to raise awareness that using reusable cups is doable on a daily basis and can exponentially reduce the number of single-use (disposable) cups.

Eco school students visited classes during the homeroom class time (community meeting) to explain the purpose of recycling and upcycling.

QLA greenhouse

Grade 11 / 12 science Students creates organic pesticides to be used in the greenhouse

Students have already researched procedures to create organic pesticides. Chemistry class will be involved in this activity 

Al Khor Beach clean up 

Grade 7 and/or 8 students participated in a beach clean-up with social distancing and other precautionary measures in place.

Eco school students will lead the activity. Students with teachers visited the mangroves in Al Khor and clean up the beach to remove the plastic waste.
