ICC SME Climate Hub Initiative

The SME Climate Hub is a ground-breaking initiative that provides a one-stop-shop climate action platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to curb carbon emissions, build business resilience and gain a competitive advantage. The Hub is an initiative of the We Mean Business Coalition, the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and the United Nations Race to Zero campaign in collaboration with Normative and the Net Zero team at Oxford University.

No Single Use Plastic Water Bottle

Qatar Museums (QM) has implemented a sustainability initiative to avoid single use plastic water bottles at all QM facilities, including Museum of Islamic Arts, National Museum of Qatar, Fire Station, Sports Museum, QM Tower 1 & 2, etc.

QM has distributed free reusable water bottles to each QM employees and also provided with water dispenser machines at all appropriate places inside each QM facilities. This initiative has avoided the use of at least 250,000 water bottles per year.

Promoting Eco-Friendly Packaging on talabat Mart

During QSW, we have created a special category for our customers in our tMart store on the talabat app called “Eco-Friendly Packaging”. Our objective is to start reducing packaging emissions, which is one of our biggest contributors to our carbon footprint. We will be creating awareness to this category by sending our customers a flyer made from recyclable material along with a free eco-friendly trash bag for them to trial.

AAB Chess Open FIDE Rated Tournament Edition 6

A FIDE Rated Chess Tournament open for all ages. Chess enthusiasts in Qatar have been given the accessibility to get FIDE Rated or World Rated and to update their rankings. In collaboration with Qatar Chess Association (QCA), the game of chess has been encouraged in the community as it helps and shapes the strategic thinking of the player especially the youth.  This is a 2 weekend Tournament from October 13th - October 22nd.

Raise Awareness in Contributing Towards UN SGDs

Raise awareness in media of talabat’s recent global partnership with the UN Global Compact, which highlights our commitment and engagement in implementing UN SDGs in Qatar. talabat currently contributes to over 5 UN SDGs and is committed in 2022/3 to focusing on driving even further the following 4 UN SDGs: UN SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), UN SDG 3 (Good Health & Wellbeing) and UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) and UN SDG 13 (Climate Change). We want to encourage other companies in Qatar to collaborate with us to contribute further to the UN SDGs.

Raise Awareness in Measuring Corporate Carbon Footprint

Raise awareness in media of talabat's efforts towards completing the calculation of their corporate carbon footprint in 2021 and 2022 (in progress) to start measuring and actioning reduction opportunities. talabat wants to encourage all companies in Qatar to join them in this yearly effort in measuring their carbon footprint so we can collectively find key partnerships and opportunities to further reduce the country's carbon footprint.
