It also reduces health risks & stress compared to commuting alone. We call on our colleagues to share rides going to and from the office to cultivate a culture of sharing. We have replaced our plastic based straws, stirrers and take away bags with eco-friendly alternatives and are in the process of replacing in-room plastic based amenities and take away boxes along with cutlery for food items as well.
In support of Qatar Sustainability Week, hotel staff at Crowne Plaza Doha and Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park are encouraged to bring their own tumbler at work. Qatar has one of the highest per capita waste generation rates worldwide of 1.8 kg per day, 40% of which are recyclable materials such as metal, glass, paper and plastic. The objective of this exercise is to raise awareness that using reusable cups is doable on a daily basis and can exponentially reduce the number of single-use (disposable) cups.
