Awareness Activities

Eco friendly in FS2 We promote connecting with the natural environment and being Eco friendly in FS2. The pupils in class are surrounded with natural materials including, twigs, wooden materials, natural loose parts, pebbles in the sand and wooden baskets. We have different coloured bins to separate the different recyclable material. The Eco FS2 assembly reinforced to the children how to use these bins as well as promoting other Eco-friendly ideas. In class we learnt about where paper comes from - the children know not to waste paper.

We had a brilliant time on our class trip to Hadiqaa Farm! We caught the bus bright and early and were eager to get started with our activities. The children learned all about different types of plants and how to care for them. They planted beautiful flowers to take home and use their knew knowledge to help them survive and thrive. They also planted fruit and vegetable seeds. We looked at different types of soil and discussed the importance of soil to plant survival.

We have been learning bout mini-beasts with a focus on bees and the important role that they play in our ecosystem. As a hook to our unit on bees, we made a delicious fruit salad made from fruits that are pollinated by bees. Did you know that if there were no bees we wouldn’t be able to have yummy fruits?

In Year 2, we are passionate about protecting and saving our planet. Our lessons promote awareness of environmental topics that can have an impact on the world around us. Throughout our school and community, we work together as one eco-warrior team and make positive changes. During our topic lessons, we learned how to keep ourselves and our environment healthy. As a class, we learned how to read food labels and how they can help us make healthier choices. Here we are cooking our own healthy pizza!

Class 3D Italy recently performed their class assembly on what it means to be a Global Citizen - spreading the word to their fellow year 3 classmates and their parents. They also completed a 'week without worksheets,' can you guess how many sheets of paper and TREES they saved?

Energy Use: During our electricity unit, we learned about the different sources of renewable energy as a more sustainable approach to power usage. Some of the sources we explored were solar, hydro and wind power. Rainforests: In our most recent geography topic, we are exploring the amazing things rainforests provide us with, as well as the threats facing these ecosystems. We have looked at how different organisations, companies and individuals view the rainforest and how it should be utilised (or not).

This online workshop addresses how you can contribute to combating desertification and protecting biodiversity. As well as the impact of climate change and the role individuals, communities, and corporations can play in mitigating this impact, by raising awareness about the importance of trees in decreasing carbon levels. Various awareness sessions shall be held at IDC sites / Offices to increase awareness about sustainability like using of Metro, switching off light during day time, and use of motion sensor to switch off light, automation system to switch off AC when not in use, having camp near to site to avoid transportation of workers.
