The UN’s Greening Education Partnership (GEP) is a global initiative coordinated by UNESCO that takes a whole-of-system approach to support countries in tackling the climate crisis by harnessing the critical role of education. Greening Education Partnership aims to deliver strong, coordinated and comprehensive action that will prepare every learner to acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to tackle climate change and to promote sustainable development. Countries are committed to report 50% of its educational institutes to be Green and awarded the Green Badge by 2030.

At the heart of Eco-Schools is the proven Seven-Steps Framework, a whole-school, project-based learning approach that has demonstrated exceptional adaptability and effectiveness across diverse educational settings in over 95 countries. The Eco-Schools program is officially aligned to the UN's Greening Education Partnership Green School Quality Standard.

Every Green Flag awarded Eco-school will automatically be Green Badge awarded by the UN GEP contributing to Qatar’s commitment of 50% Green schools by 2030.
