Trash 2 Treasure – Junior Eco Ambassadors Workshop (Ages 6–12)
The Trash to Treasure Workshop Series, led by Dr. Abhilasha Singh Panwar in collaboration with Green Island, is an interactive, hands-on sustainability initiative designed to inspire children, youth, and families to see waste as a resource for creativity and innovation. This series, held during Qatar Sustainability Week 2025, will include a three-hour session which will engage participants through activities such as eco-art, upcycling projects, waste-sorting arena games, recycled seed cards, and pledge circles, all hosted at Green Island, Qatar Foundation. The workshops aim to shift mindsets—from seeing waste as useless to recognizing it as a valuable resource for innovation and sustainable living—while encouraging sustainable habits and family participation.
By promoting hands-on learning, creativity, and collaboration, the Trash to Treasure series directly supports Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (NECCS), and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4, 11, 12, 13, and 17).
Expected Outcomes:
- Increased awareness of waste segregation and circular economy practices.
- Development of practical sustainability and upcycling skills.
- Creation of family eco-pledges to encourage everyday sustainable habits.
- Strengthened community collaboration and knowledge sharing through creative action.
