USI Sustainability Week – 12th–16th October 2025!

USI’s Sustainability Week will take place next week, from 12th–16th October. We have an exciting range of activities planned to inspire environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living both in school and across our homes and wider community.

Our Sustainability Week is taking place across the entire school—from EYFS to Primary and Secondary. Parents have played a key role in making USI Sustainability Week a success. This joint involvement is vital in helping us work together toward a greener, more sustainable future!

Here’s what is planned and how students, staff and parents can get involved:

Sunday – Switch Off Sunday: We’ll be switching off all unnecessary lights in school to help save energy and raise awareness about electricity use. Pupils can try this at home too!

Monday – Move Green Monday: Students, parents, guardians, and staff are encouraged to walk, cycle, take public transport, or car share to school in order to reduce emissions and ease traffic.

Tuesday – Trash Free Tuesday: Students and staff are challenged to bring trash-free lunches and make waste-free choices throughout the day.

Wednesday – Swap A Story Wednesday: Students can bring in a book they’ve finished reading and swap it with a friend in their class to encourage reuse and sharing.

Thursday – Think Sustainable Thursday: All projects made using reusable or recyclable materials should be brought to school on this day. A special prize will be awarded to the best sustainable project in each year group by our ECO Warriors.

Lastly, we have been in contact with Oryx International School to discuss some shared approaches to Sustainability Week together!
