Regenerative Landscapes at Torba Farm: Water, Land and Regeneration

Speaker: Mohammed Ali Al Khater, Co-Founder of Torba Farm, the driving force behind Torba Farmers Market and Torba Naturals.

What does it mean to design a landscape that works with nature rather than against it? This talk explores regenerative landscapes as living infrastructure, examining how water, soil, topography and shade shape the ability of land to sustain life, particularly in arid environments.

Drawing on Torba Farm as a practical case study, Mohammed Ali Al Khater explores how working with natural systems can improve water retention, protect soil and create conditions for life to thrive. Connecting these principles to Doha, Qur’anic landscapes and international precedents, the session considers how regenerative approaches can inform urban design beyond ornamental green spaces. At its core is a fundamental question: how can landscapes retain resources, restore ecological function and create lasting value for people and the environment?
