From Crate to Classroom: Designing Learning Spaces

QF Alumni Office

As part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2026, the QF Alumni Office, in collaboration with the Residence Hall Coordinator, Student Housing & Residence Life, is hosting From Crate to Classroom: Designing Learning Spaces, an interactive workshop for QF students and alumni, led by QF alumna Lolwa Al-Thani.

The workshop explores how a shipping container can be reimagined as a safe, inspiring, and adaptable learning space for refugee children and families. Through a hands-on design experience, participants will explore sustainable, modular, and trauma-informed design principles, considering how thoughtful approaches to space and resources can respond to real-world needs and create meaningful social impact.

Bringing together sustainability, creativity, and community, the workshop offers QF students and alumni an opportunity to exchange ideas, apply creative thinking, and explore how purposeful design can contribute to more sustainable and inclusive communities.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, 17 September, 2026 from 4–6pm at the Conference Hall – Female Housing, Education City.

Open exclusively to QF students and alumni. Spaces are limited, and advance registration is required.
