Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through Studio 5 initiative.
(Eco Score).

Studio 5, an initiative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), will offer Eco-Tracker, a beginner-friendly Python programming programme, from 2 to 4 November 2026 as part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2026. The programme introduces young adults to the fundamentals of Python through practical activities focused on environmental sustainability.
Designed for participants aged 19 to 24, the programme consists of three in-person training sessions, held daily from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. No prior programming experience is required.
Through a hands-on project, participants will use Python to explore four areas of everyday life: transport, food, energy consumption and waste generation. They will develop a simple personal environmental impact indicator (Eco Score), helping them better understand how their daily habits affect the environment.
Day 1 – Collecting the Data: Participants will learn Python basics such as variables, input, and data types to build a short questionnaire about how they travel, what they eat, how much energy they use, and how much waste they produce.
Day 2 – Building the Scoring Rules: Participants will write the rules that turn their questionnaire answers into Transport, Food, Energy, and Waste scores, then combine them into a single Eco Score.
Day 3 – Turning It Into a Dashboard: Participants will build a personal dashboard that displays their Eco Score, then test how changing one habit affects the score.
