Tree of Hope: Pledge for Sustainability

Tree of Hope: Pledge for Sustainability invites the Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar community—faculty, staff, and students—to take a collective stance for a greener future during Qatar Sustainability Week. Participants make a lasting commitment by leaving their green handprint on a canvas depicting a large tree trunk and branches. As each individual adds their mark, the bare branches transform into a vibrant canopy of green hands, serving as a powerful visual symbol of unity, shared responsibility, and environmental stewardship. Beyond creating a striking community artwork, this interactive event fosters environmental awareness, strengthens institutional solidarity, and transforms abstract sustainability goals into a memorable, personal pledge. By physically contributing to the tree, every participant helps cultivate a visible, enduring legacy of sustainability on campus.
