The Giving Garden
'The Student Reach' and 'Hadiqaa'
The Giving Garden Initiative is a collaboration between The Student Reach, a youth-led nonprofit, and Hadiqaa, an organization focused on sustainable farming, as part of Qatar Sustainability Week. This project brings volunteers together to grow fresh, nutritious food for those in need in Qatar. Volunteers are responsible for tasks such as sourcing materials and setting up garden beds.
The volunteers also maintain the garden through regular activities like inspecting the irrigation system and weeding. They construct support structures for climbing plants, apply compost monthly to nourish the soil, and handle the harvesting and packaging of produce to local families. This initiative not only helps tackle food insecurity but also promotes sustainability and community engagement.
