As a leading sustainable organization in Qatar, Qatar Foundation (QF) actively participates in and contributes towards actions which address global climate change. QF aims to reduce and offset the organization’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and is on a journey towards reducing its carbon emissions—demonstrated by its commitment to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM carbon neutrality pledge.
QF now reports on its GHG emissions annually and—with our support—has developed a GHG emissions accounting report, in accordance with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s and World Resources Institute’s ‘GHG Protocol: A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard – Revised Edition’.
The report helps QF to identify ways to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability, e.g., by reducing imports of materials, decreasing energy and water consumption and removing operational redundancies—all of which also contribute to more efficient operations. It also helps to promote public awareness of climate change action, and how this contributes towards Qatar’s sustainable development.
